I am a married man with a gorgeous wife and 3 beautiful children. I love spending as much time with my family as possible, training in MMA, and attending my home group Bible study. My next favorite place would be on my motorcycle or alone with a good classic novel.

I do not like attack pieces generally. And when one really boils down what an attack piece is, for me to write one almost makes the point of what I am about to say an "oxymoron." The reality is that what I am saying, although an attack piece, is done with the spirit of reconcilliation in mind. And not just the thought of unity, but also the understanding that it is not I who has caused the division, I do not perpetuate the continuing division, and welcome all who come in the name of peace to engage in sometimes heated, yet humble debate.

The topic here is division. For someone to say that we need to divide from "Christians" who are no longer in agreement with us, for any reason, is the epitomy of pride. Especially when someone who is calling for division is someone who promoted those same ideas.

"Whatever hyperpreterism is, it ISN’T Christian." This may or may not be true...but imagine that comment coming from a reformed Christian. Actually it did! A reformed Christian who WAS himself a hyper preterist! So, once reformed, left sound doctrine and promoted a heresey, now rejecting that heresey and is still reformed. So I guess I can put it like this...once a reformed Christian, left Christianity and became a false prophet of a false Christianity, and repented and returned to God, back to traditional reformed Christianity, only to pick up the sword of truth (which he thought he carried as a hyper preterist) to strike down the heretics in the hyper preterist movement with his new found return to true faith. Sounds very, ummm, unreformed to me. Actually, sounds more like James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. "

Or maybe this:
"As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly."

I mean after all, if one is following the spirit, usually one progresses in their understanding of God, not regresses. Its not like we are talking about someone who backslid and returned...we are talking about someone who preached a false gospel (according to him) and then returned to the right one. Funny he ever left the right one in the first place if it was so sound, if HE was so sound...back to James 1...

Finding yourself in error and doing something about it is one thing, but this one time false prophet, this "born again" reformed ex-non Christian hyper preterist makes these statements...

"Yet, despite all of this, some are now telling us to “keep company with” and treat hyperpreterists as if they are “brothers”."

So they are NOT brothers is what he has said. So again, he was NOT a brother for all his years in the movement. Even worse, he HAD the truth and betrayed it for a lie, which he preached over and over and over again. He did not necessarily admit this, but if his comments are true, that hyperpreterists are NOT Christians and should not be considered "brothers", then he was even worse. Because he had the truth and preached the lie.

Here is the point of this piece. We are not ABOVE one another. We are not BETTER or more wise than one another. Those who claim and cling to the cross for their salvation are all on a journey. Sometimes our journey leads us through periods of testing all things. Like our ex hyperpreterist now inspired reformed crusader. The DIFFERENCE is what we do with what we have experienced, learned, etc. We could learn what we believe to be a truth and slam every idiot who doesnt agree with us and call them non christians, or we can with humility and peace deal with each man according to their understanding with brotherly love. We could simple REMEMBER that WE were once (and all in some way probably still are) in ERROR. So to divide over our differences in our attempts to understand the Bible is the ULTIMATE HYPOCRITICAL PRIDE!

Whats funny is Christ's response to those who felt they had it together, to those who came to the theological debate with a stone instead of a repentant and humble heart. The pharisees were so good at condemning anyone who didnt bow to their understanding of the scripture, but it was they who were condemned by Christ. He took those who put themselves as judge, jury and executioner and shamed them, cursed them, etc. The reformers forget, Martin Luther LEFT a church which claimed it had all the answers and chose dogma over love. The reformer of reformers saw the "apostolic authority" to condemn as they did was never legit. It was counterfeit. So are the current pharisees calls to excommunicate anyone they dont agree with, and win all arguments with "they arent even Christian." Guess what brother...if they arent, neither are you. You are that DOG who has simple returned to your vomit. If they are not saved (meaning outside the grace) what does that make you?
